Family child care providers in California are being ignored—and we won’t stand for it.
On January 28, more than 150 family child care providers gathered at the bargaining table with the state, ready to make the true cost of care a reality and to fight for the benefits and protections we all deserve! The state came to the table with nothing.
No proposals. No updates. Zero urgency.
Instead, they made their same, tired excuses: “We don’t know when we’ll be able to respond.”
Meanwhile, child care providers and families are struggling NOW.
- Families impacted by wildfires and economic instability are without critical support.
- Thousands of providers are barely making ends meet on substandard pay
- Parents can’t find reliable, affordable child care in their communities.
The State of California has the power to fix this—but is choosing not to act.
This is not just a delay—it is a deliberate attempt to avoid real negotiations.
We Demand Immediate Action on the True Cost of Care
The state claims it’s still early in the budget process, but for child care providers, it’s already too late.
We are done waiting. We demand:
– A real update on the true cost of care—no more stalling.
– A serious commitment to bargaining with meaningful proposals and negotiations.
– Immediate engagement on the urgent issues facing providers and families.
Governor Newsom—We Need Leadership NOW!
California’s family child care providers are essential. We keep California’s economy running. Governor Gavin Newsom, it’s time to Act! No more delays. No more excuses. Pay providers what it actually costs to provide care!
We will not stop fighting.
