This past weekend, our CCPU Bargaining Team met with the state. We demanded that all family child care providers be fairly compensated for the important work we do. This includes ensuring that all hours worked are acknowledged, providers have stable funding to keep our doors open regardless of fluctuations in families we serve, and that the increased costs associated with certain types of care—such as evenings, weekends, and support for children with special needs—are addressed. Although the state claims to want to work with us, they showed NO urgency in moving toward our cost-of-care vision and implementing statewide rate reform. Their delays leave child care providers and families at a disadvantage, holding us back from making meaningful progress. But we’re committed to fighting for the respect we deserve and ensuring that our doors remain open!
We know the state can make this happen! We have a role to play—we need to be ready to step up and take action for our needs. Let’s make it clear that we demand more! On Wednesday, December 11, at 10:00 AM, CCPU members will join the Rate and Quality Advisory Panel Webinar to advocate for statewide rate reform and make our voices heard! After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. When you join, make sure to share during the public comment periods that you demand that the state agree to CCPU cost of care demands immediately!
Together, we have the power to build a child care industry that prioritizes and recognizes the value of providers’ contributions. To join the Rate and Quality Advisory Webinar, click here.
