After four consecutive days of negotiations in Sacramento, our CCPU Bargaining Team was ready to finalize a new contract with the state before our current agreement expired on July 1, 2025. But the state refused to address the crisis that providers face keeping their doors open to serve families. In fact, they walked away from the bargaining table and refused to set future bargaining dates. The fight is on!
We won’t be bullied or rushed into a contract that doesn’t respect providers or ensure the stability of our industry! Let’s be clear: the contract expired on July 1, and all our contract terms remain in place, meaning that the current reimbursement rates remain, and our health care, retirement, and training benefits all continue to operate with existing funds while we await fund restorations guaranteed under our contract. If anything changes in your pay or benefits, alert your union leader or organizer immediately.
What’s Next?
Save the date! Join us for a vigil in Sacramento on Tuesday, July 15. More details will be shared soon. We will take action to demand the state to establish a timeline for implementing the cost of care and to provide immediate stabilization payments to help providers remain operational during this long-overdue process. We will invite all our allies, elected officials, and supporters to join us in this fight.
Let’s keep standing strong! All our rallies, marches and lobby visits moved the state away from their initial proposal to eliminate our benefits and provide no rate increases. We’ve seen with our unity that we can begin to secure what providers and families need. Now is the time to reach out to all providers and the families you serve as we double our efforts to win the strong contract we deserve.
