Bargaining Update: We Took Action, Now the State Must Move!

This past weekend, we raised our voices and took action at the State Capitol. In honor of International Women’s Day, child care providers from across the state came together to demand that our work be respected—not just on one day, but every day.

Instead of support, we were met with pushback and outright disrespect. The governor refused to meet with us, and our voices were dismissed. But we didn’t back down!

At the bargaining table, the state once again failed to do their part, refusing to present any counterproposals. But that didn’t stop us. Our CCPU Bargaining Team presented SEVEN critical proposals, including:

  • Updates to our Health Care Fund
  • New emergency clauses to support providers in crisis
  • Paid time off
  • Time for providers to attend necessary appointments and personal matters, as long as children are appropriately supervised

While we’re frustrated by the state’s inaction, we are not giving up. The fight isn’t over—it’s time to turn up the pressure!

Take action:

  1. Share your story—tell the governor why child care providers must be paid the true cost of care now
  2. Ask parents to speak out—low provider wages affect them, too!
