On Tuesday, August 11, child care providers from across California will come together in Sacramento to remind lawmakers that this year’s budget wasn’t enough—and that our fight for fair pay and affordable child care isn’t over.
While providers won important victories including a 2% pay increase, nearly 23,000 new child care slots, and disaster relief for providers affected by fires, we all know much more is needed. We’re calling on lawmakers to:
- Pass Assembly Bill (AB) 1981, the True Cost of Care Act, to modernize California’s child care reimbursement system.
- Amend and support the implementation of new provider requirements, including clarifying changes to the 80/20 temporary absences rule.
- Increase provider pay now to help us keep our doors open.
